LIFELONG RESIDENT OF KALIHI, CHINATOWN, PALAMA

Lynn Vasquez was raised in the Kalihi, Palama, Chinatown, Puʻunui area. Her mother was a small business owner in the area, so she grew up loving this vibrant and exciting community. This deep roots in the community is also why Lynn realized that small businesses are having significant challenges to stay afloat and local residents are struggling to get by. Lynn raised her children Ligaya, Conrad, and Christy, to be of service to others. They have all served our country in the military and continue the legacy of serving the greater good.

RECORD OF SERVICE, TRUSTED BY THE COMMUNITY

In 2008 Lynn ran and was elected to the Kalihi-Palama neighborhood board, and have served as a neighborhood board member fighting for her constituents and serving as a liaison with city and state officials to advocate for the issues that matter most. She was most recently elected by her peers to serve as the Vice-Chair of the Kalihi-Palama board. In her many years on the board Lynn has developed relationships within the legislature and the community, and is positioned to start work on day one to represent the hardworking people of District 13.

CO-FOUNDER OF NON-PROFIT SLIPPAH FOUNDATION

In addition to her service as an elected member of the board, she also co-founded The Slippah Foundation, which is a nonprofit dedicated to providing various communities of Chinatown and Kalihi free slippers- allowing kids especially to have new footwear, a simple yet very important service considering that many families are struggling to get by.
